Laws & Ethics

Independent Practice

The services provided at Concierge Mental Health (CMH) are largely guided by codes for ethical conduct maintained by the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Counseling Association, but are not regulated by any organizational or licensing board. The ethics for conduct and service are unique to the services of CMH alone and are not reflective or representative of any of the providers or service organizations affiliated with CMH.

Scopes of Practice

Services delivered at Concierge Mental Health are primarily based on established, evidence-based practices for supporting people experiencing both moderate as well as subclinical levels of depression, anxiety, grief, anger, and distress. Nevertheless, every treatment plan is curated toward each individual. Clients are requested and encouraged to provide feedback and collaborative discussion of their experience with, comfort over, and personal responses to every course of support.

Locations of Service

Concierge Mental Health services may be provided in any geographic location, both in-person or virtually, and both domestically and internationally.  Services are provided in offices, outdoor locations, public arenas, hospitals, clinics, private practices, and private residences.

Appropriate Communication

All scheduling and billing requests should be handled through frontdesk@conciergementalhealth.org. Because of demands on timing and resources, while all efforts are made to respond to communication in a timely manner, there is no guarantee on responses from any given providers in any given time frame, or at all. Digital communications may be sent or received 24/7; however, if a client is not comfortable receiving digital communication via text or outside of office hours, it their responsibility to communicate this to their service providers. Same day appointments may be requested but are granted based on availability. We do not have the capacity to offer walk-in appointments.

Physical Contact

At Concierge Mental Health, techniques of treatment for personal clients (rather than business or private practice owners seeking educational, professional, or collaborative care support) are informed by clinical modalities that involve limited degrees of physical touch. Touch is prefaced by assessment of need, requests for consent, assessment of responses, and continued evaluation and monitoring of comfort, both through verbal feedback as well as through visual observation. Most modalities of care do not include touch. When it is administered, it is primarily done so for the purposes increasing limb mobility, flexibility, bodily autonomy, and client control over personal senses of movement. There is absolutely no room for sexual touch. Any initiation thereof will result in immediate case termination, with no guarantee of provision of continued support or referral to outside resources or service providers.

Safety First

We kindly ask that you do not bring any weapons or guns into any of the office spaces of Concierge Mental Health. We strive to not leave any valuables or confidential personal information in the offices of Concierge Mental Health. Clients who feel a need to remain armed with closed carry permits will only be served in public locations.

Confidentiality

While Concierge Mental Health is not bound by laws of mandated reporting, we reserve the right and responsibility to report any disclosed information to the appropriate legal authorities or government bodies. While we deeply respect client privacy, if a client has sensitive information that could be dangerous to them if it is leaked into the general public, we strongly advise that this information is de-identified or not shared with any service providers at Concierge Mental Health.

Dual Relationships

Because Concierge Mental Health offers professional services to small business owners, private practice owners, and university groups and has numerous exchange and collaboration-based platforms for service delivery, sponsorships and proposals for collaborations are always welcome. Acceptance of sponsorships or agreement to collaborate is completely subject to the discretion of service providers and will never be granted if a public affiliation or endorsement would result in the distribution of explicit or implicit messaging or information that is intentionally deceptive, misleading, nonbeneficial, or disadvantageous in any way, shape, or form. Private clients are never expected to provide gifts, tips, or any items of monetary value. If a client wishes to share a gift or tip of a monetary value of a substantial amount (i.e. >25% of the cost of services delivered), acceptance is contingent upon a satisfactory discussion of the clients’ motivations, personal meaning, and expectations associated with it. There is absolutely no room for coercion, bribery, or quid pro quo exchanges of gifts of any sort, and any initiation thereof will result in immediate case termination, with no guarantee of provision of continued support or referral to outside resources or service providers.

Legal Statement

Concierge Mental Health clients are requested to consider and refer to providers as consultants and collaborators, not psychology providers, in accordance with the 2019 California Bus. & Prof. Codes § 2903, 2908, 2910.
